The Challenge
The barriers that delay earlier action
Many people delay seeking help because they are unsure what symptoms mean, uncertain about their risk, unaware of screening opportunities or face barriers to accessing support.
These delays contribute to later-stage diagnoses and poorer outcomes — challenges that affect communities differently based on ethnicity, deprivation, geography and access to information.
Research consistently shows that earlier diagnosis significantly improves survival rates across all major cancer types. Addressing the barriers to awareness and action is therefore critical.

CancerPath was founded by Dr Ogechi Anokwuru following doctoral research exploring cancer help-seeking behaviour and health inequalities.
Through research, community engagement and healthcare experience, it became clear that many people face barriers to recognising symptoms, engaging with screening programmes and seeking help at the right time.
CancerPath was developed to translate evidence into a practical digital solution that empowers individuals, supports communities and contributes to earlier diagnosis.
